Canadians In Warsaw: October Competition

FIVE CANADIANS WILL PERFORM IN STAGE 1 OF THE WARSAW CHOPIN COMPETITION: OCTOBER 2nd - 20th 2025


Canadian's are once again making their impact on the world stage. Canada is among the top 5 most represented nations in the stage 1 of the 19th International Chopin Piano Competition.


The preliminary round of the 19th Chopin Competition ended on 4 May at the Warsaw Philharmonic after 12 days of incredible performances. The jury, chaired by Professor Piotr Paleczny and including Krzysztof Jablonski (Jury Chair of the Sixth Canadian Chopin Piano Competition), selected 66 pianists, who will return to Warsaw in October. 19 performers have also been admitted directly to stage 1 of the competition without performing in the preliminaries. These are laureates of selected piano competitions such as competitions in Leeds, Tel Aviv, Miami, Bolzano, Hamamatsu, the Paderewski International Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz, as well as the Fryderyk Chopin National Piano Competition in Warsaw.

The 19th Chopin Competition will officially begin on 2nd October 2025 with the opening concert. The competition will last three weeks. On 20 October, laureates will be announced. A day later, there will be an awards gala and the first of three concerts by the winners. The winner will receive €60,000 and a gold medal, the entire prize pool amounts to more than €240,000. In addition, the winners of the musical tournament will be invited to a world tour lasting several months. Details of the concerts will be published after the Preliminaries.
