Alex Yang Awarded The Canadian Chopin Society Award

The Canadian Federation of Music Teachers Associations (CFMTA) National Piano Competition was held July 5-7 in Edmonton with pianists participating from across Canada! The jury included Dr. Avan Yu, first prize winner of the Second Canadian Chopin Piano Competition in 2004.




The CCS was proud to partner with CFTMA to present The Canadian Chopin Society Award ($1000) for the best performance of a work by Chopin. The award was presented to 14-year old Alex Yang from Nova Scotia by Dr. Janet Lopinski, President and Artistic Director.

The First Prize winner of the competition was Edward Duan of British Columbia. The Second Prize was awarded to Gregoire Abadie of Quebec, and Third Prize to Alex Yang of Nova Scotia.
