Zhenkai (Kai) Wu is eleven years old. It was noted that he had a strong interest in music and unique feelings about melodies early on. During past years, he has won multiple awards and scholarships at various music festivals. In 2023, Kai won 2nd place of OMFA Provincial Final, and multiple gold prizes in local Music Festivals. Kai is the winner of 2021 Canadian Young Artist Standard Excellence Award, and was also invited as guest performer to perform at the 2023 Canadian Young Artist Standard Excellence Award Ceremony. Kai was recently accepted by Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists, and started his new music learning journey there in September.
Other than piano, Kai also learns the clarinet. He recently received Gold Medal from RCM for his outstanding exam results in 2024. He’s invited to perform at the RCM Ontario Celebration of Excellence recital in the coming November.
Kai likes classical music more than pop music. He likes to listen to classical music in his spare time, or while working on homework or reading. Also, Chopin is Kai’s most favourite composer, and he enjoys playing Nocturnes on the piano after a full-school day. Other than music, Kai is also a big fan of tennis, math, reading and solving Rubik’s cubes.
