Forest Benson

Forest has made great strides in his piano playing in the past year. He made his debut at the Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre in October, performing the 1st movement of Rachmaninoff's 2nd concerto with the Vancouver Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra after winning 1st prize in the BC Provincial Concerto competition. That same weekend he was also awarded the grand prize at the 2023 Vancouver International Music Competition, giving the closing performance at the Vancouver Playhouse for the gala. Other notable achievements include winning 1st prize in the Pacific International Youth Music Festival gala competition and performing a solo recital for the Comox Valley Piano Society in May, 2024.

Forest was born in 2008 and started playing piano at age 6 with his first teacher, Janet Bulani. In 2020 he was selected to join the Young Artist Collegiate Program at the Vancouver Academy of Music and currently studies piano with Dr. Bogdan Dulu. Forest passed the Royal Conservatory of Music’s ARCT Performance Exam, awarded First Class Honours with Distinction, when he was age 13.
