Carolyn Chen

Carolyn Chen began learning piano at the age of 5. She is currently a student at the Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy For Young Artists. She has played in numerous national and regional competitions including Music Lights the Way Piano Competition, OMFA provincial competition and Toronto Kiwanis Music Festival. She has placed in every competition that she has competed in. Carolyn has performed in Koerner Hall. She has also played in many elderly homes, in places such as the Yee Hong Center for Geriatric Care, the Evergreen Retirement Community and the Chartwell Regency Retirement Residence. When she is away from the piano, she loves to read and to crochet. She also loves to hike and to explore nature. She especially loves the glacial fed lakes in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. In 2023 Carolyn was the 3rd place in Music Lights the Way Piano Competition. She was a playoff finalist at OMFA provincial competition in 2023 and 2024, 3rd place in 2020 & 2022. Carolyn also won 4 Best of Class at Toronto Kiwanis Music Festival in2022 & 2023 and countless 1st place and 2nd place awards at North York Music Festival and Peel Music Festival. She continues to express her passion for classical music at the piano bench.
