Tianlang Xu began playing the piano at the age of 5 and is currently studying at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal with Janelle Fung. Tianlang has achieved success in numerous local and national competitions, including first prize at the Canada Music Competition, gold medals at the Cadence Music Competition, Crescendo International Competition, Concours de Musique Pierre de Saurel, Concours de Musique La Capitale, and the Festival-concours de musique de Sherbrooke. He is also a two-time Gold Medal Winner of the QMEA Competition and has won the QMTA Montreal Classical Music Festival Competition.
In 2024, Tianlang was one of 17 pianists worldwide selected to participate in the prestigious Morningside Music Bridge summer festival, where he worked with leading pianists and pedagogues. This fall, he is one of only three pre-college pianists chosen by the Conservatoire to perform in an important concert honoring the work of Canadian composer Francis Dompierre.
He has performed Saint-Saëns' *Carnival of the Animals* with the Orford Orchestra under Maestro Jean-François Rivest. In addition, Tianlang enjoys swimming and was part of a swimming club.
